Intro:
Adrian Tate is Group CEO of n² Group and Interim CEO of BioTeam. He leads a growing portfolio of advanced computing businesses spanning software, consulting, and technical services—organisations united by a long-term, reinvest-to-grow philosophy and a commitment to making advanced computing practical for industry and research.
Background
Adrian has led the strategic transformation of n² Group from its roots at nAG—one of the most respected numerical‑software vendors—into a modern portfolio of specialised technology companies delivering solutions across HPC, cloud infrastructure, data analytics and applied AI. His professional interests centre on strategic transformation, in particular the application of business strategy and the development of high-performing executive teams.
Before joining nAG, Adrian spent 17 years at Cray Inc. in technical and senior leadership roles, including the CTO Office, Director of the European R&D Lab, and Principal Engineer. In those roles, he contributed to customer-facing co-design initiatives and to the development of advanced mathematical software supporting some of the world’s most significant supercomputing systems. Adrian began his career as an HPC consultant at the University of Manchester, optimising national HPC applications and services.
Adrian holds a BSc in Theoretical Physics (Newcastle) and an MSc in Computation (Manchester), together with executive education from Oxford Saïd Business School and Imperial College Business School. He is continuing his education in business strategy at Warwick Business School.
