BioTeam Scientist and Managing Director Jennifer Wortman Contributed to Research Advancing Microbiome Therapeutics

Bacteria Lactobacillus In Human Intestine

BioTeam is excited to highlight the work of Jennifer Wortman, whose research contributions prior to joining BioTeam were part of a study published in Nature Medicine.

The paper, “The impact of an oral purified microbiome therapeutic on the gastrointestinal microbiome,” explores how microbiome-based therapeutics influence microbial communities in the human gut. The study examines how targeted bacterial therapies can reshape the gastrointestinal microbiome, offering insight into how microbiome-driven treatments may help prevent recurrent infections and restore healthy microbial balance.

Research like this requires deep interdisciplinary expertise spanning microbiology, data analysis, and computational approaches to understanding complex biological systems. Before joining BioTeam, Jennifer led the Research Computing and Informatics groups, contributing key infrastructure and scientific workflows to this research, as well as direct involvement in analysis and interpretation.

This type of work sits at the intersection of biology, data science, and computational research, an area where BioTeam’s multi-expertise consultants frequently support research organizations and biotechnology teams.

Our team combines backgrounds in scientific research with expertise in computing, data, and infrastructure to help accelerate discovery in life sciences and biomedical research.
