Daniel Nicholls

Bio:

Daniel is a Scientific Consultant at BioTeam, specializing in scientific IT support and administration as well as designing and engineering scientific data workflow solutions.

Beginning with a BSc with a major in Astrophysics and Math from Australia’s Monash University, and culminating in a MS in Data Analytics and Information Systems from WV’s Shepherd University, Daniel’s passion for science has remained pervasive throughout his education and career.

Throughout 5 years of teaching English in South Korea and Japan, and 10 years in IT, he has refined his ability to empathize and communicate effectively with those around him. This has allowed him to best support those in need of his technical abilities, resolving issues, preempting needs, as well as promoting a positive environment.

During his time studying Data Analytics, Daniel interned with SkyTruth, where he developed a machine learning algorithm to identify gas well pads in aerial imagery.

At Carnegie Science, Daniel worked his way up from Systems Administrator to Information Systems Manager, where he oversaw major changes to IT infrastructure with minimal disruption to scientific endeavor.

He also made a guest appearance on an episode of “Strange New Worlds: A Science & Star Trek Podcast” as an AI subject matter expert.
