Darrain started his career as a Windows systems infrastructure consultant, working for companies such as Charles Schwab and DHL. After consulting for several years, Darrain joined United Airlines as a network design engineer in the western US region. The highlight of this position was designing and building the network and systems infrastructure for the new San Francisco International Airport terminal. Darrain then followed that position by consulting for a mortgage capital bank in Northern California, and further developed his infrastructure engineering and implementation skill sets. Darrain most recently developed his science-related IT skill sets through employment with the The Buck Institute for Research on Aging. During his time there, Darrain engineered and implemented many solutions, including a new network core built from Enterasys hardware, a FreeBSD based central file server, Exchange & Zimbra email systems, linux-based nearline backup systems, PBXIAF VOIP telephony system, Ecessa WAN failover, Cisco security systems, Cisco wireless systems, and HPC environments for Bioinformatics laboratories. Darrain brings 20 years of experience in network engineering, corporate and research computing infrastructures, storage, and HPC engineering to BioTeam and provides design and implementation support for our customers.
