Alex specializes in HPC, scientific computing and infrastructure. He joined BioTeam in 2016, and enjoys building solutions that empower scientists to work effectively
Alex enjoys a mix of outdoor and indoor activities including hiking and exploring nature and urban environments, mountain biking, playing competitive Ultimate Frisbee and computer games. Alex also likes reading and watching Sci-Fi and epic movies.
After getting a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida, Alex began his career at the same university, working on automation, provisioning and supporting of hundreds of Windows and OSX computers across multiple computers labs. While pursuing M.S. in Computer Engineering and seeking additional challenges, Alex joined a freshly formed Cyberinfrastructure group that managed computational infrastructure at a UF life sciences core facility.
At the core facility, Alex worked with administration, scientific personnel and outside vendors to develop and implement end-to-end computational solutions that would bridge instrument control computers, HPC, workstations, and customer data delivery mechanisms with the goal of improving scientific productivity and reducing interface complexity.
