BioTeam collaborative launches VAST Scientific
Bringing focused expertise in post-genomic scalable informatics solutions in collaboration with leading technology partners.

The BioTeam has recently launched VAST Scientific, a new informatics consultancy (www.vastscientific.com) that will focus on proteome informatics and emphasize Microsoft high performance computing technologies. The decision to create a separate consultancy to focus on those capabilities resulted from a rapidly growing client list with an expanding set of requirements, which sometimes made it difficult for the six-person firm to properly prioritize its projects.
VAST Scientific is built from customer collaborative projects focused upon scalable application algorithm development, particularly in proteomics. It made sense for Michael Athanas, BioTeam co-founder and principal working on these efforts, to found a new firm with a new mission. VAST Scientific will assume the alternate membership delegate of the BioIT Alliance which is spearheaded by Microsoft.
