Services: Coding

BioTeam is able to offer software development expertise to clients – either to augment an existing effort or to ‘own’ a software project from start to finish.  Our coding projects are all 100% custom and tailored to fit a specific need.

Examples of previous coding projects (additional details available upon request)

Bridging United Devices PC Grid with Platform LSF Linux Cluster
A pharmaceutical company had a Linux cluster running Platform LSF and an enterprise PC desktop grid controlled by software from United Devices (now Univa UD). BioTeam was able to bridge the two services together, allowing LSF leverage the power of the larger enterprise PC desktop grid as needed.

Extracting & Formatting Instrument Data
A pharmaceutical company owned several lab instruments that produced data in a proprietary format that was not totally suitable for desired research workflow. The client provided BioTeam with the raw instrument files along with detailed specifications on the data they wanted to extract and how it should be stored and formatted. BioTeam developed the software internally from start to finish and delivered the final product to the client.

LIMS Prototype for multi-vendor next-gen DNA sequencing lab
A government lab operating next-generation DNA sequencing instruments from multiple vendors needed a unified system capable of capturing and analyzing data coming multiple instrument types. BioTeam authored the initial prototype and continues to support and improve it.

Status monitoring of Grid Engine clusters
BioTeam developed a web-based utility for monitoring the status of Grid Engine managed cluster systems. Once developed, BioTeam made a decision to release the utility freely as a contribution back to the SGE community. The software, called “xml-qstat” is available online at http://xml-qstat.org.
